FYFB Joins the Queen West Art Crawl for the Second Year

FYFB was an active participant in the 2007 Queen West Art Crawl with an information booth at the Outdoor Art Show & Sale in Trinity Bellwoods Park. Board Chair Ravi Sreedharan thanked Artscape for the opportunity to participate once again in this vital community event. "FYFB's vision is to reconnect people with the community and events such as the Art Crawl are an important part of realizing that vision" said Sreedharan in thanking the Artscape organizers.

In addition to making new friends and informing people about the services FYFB provides for our community, an art auction was held in the booth over the weekend to raise money for our programs. Paintings were gratefully donated by a number of local artists, including John Gunter, Dan DuBois, Sarah Kennedy, Suzanne Oommen, Vanessa Pica and Rebecca Stelter. Local contemporary art collector and FYFB friend David Angelo also donated several paintings from his collection. Art sales combined with donations raised more than $1,300 for FYFB.

"With so many participants, it's a great event for getting out and getting involved with the community," said FYFB organizer Shannon Puddister. "There's always lots of interest in FYFB and the difference it makes in the community."

The volunteers, clients and board members of FYFB would like to extend a hearty 'thank you' to all who donated art, visited the booth and purchased paintings.

About the Fort York Food Bank

FYFB is a multi-service agency focused on reconnecting people with our community. We do this by working with partners who share our vision to: feed the hungry by providing the basic nutritional requirements to individuals and families in need; and, help people get on track by providing counselling, training and advocacy to help people find jobs, safe housing and appropriate social/community programs.

FYFB was founded in February 1998 as an independent agency of the Daily Bread Food Bank Foundation of Toronto. FYFB is a registered charitable organization -- number 867147464 RR0001. FYFB is governed and managed by a voluntary Board of Directors who are elected by our membership at our AGM.

FYFB originally focused on providing emergency food supplies, but to meet the economic and social needs of the most vulnerable people within our community and resolve our clients' underlying issues, FYFB's programming has grown to an integrated set of services to prevent homelessness, eliminate hunger and provide a safe environment for connecting with our community.
