Break the Bank Fundraiser

October 28 2008

A big thank you goes out to Academix for their fundraiser "Break the Bank". Held back in August, the group raised lots of food and funds for FYFB - more than $1,000, in fact.

The organizers of the event would like to thank:

Our wonderful MC Noel Cadastre - without whom our night would have stalled. His charm and professionalism gave the event style and made the event look polished. Noel is an awesome talent and we were very fortunate that he shared the evening with us.

Many thanks and praise to the performers Noelle Morris, Paul Brace, Trish Girard, Bob Charters and Monk who all graciously donated their time and amazing music. They truly made the evening a success.

Thank you to West 50 Pour House & Grille in Mississauga - it was the perfect venue. They opened their doors and their arms as host for the evening and impressed both the promoters and those in attendance.

Thank you to Metalworks Institute of Sound & Music Production for providing us with the wonderful opportunity to plan an event - because of the skills set in place by the instructors at MWI, the event was an invaluable practical experience. Alex Andronache and Ron Rogers rose to the occasion and were vital in creating an environment in which we could succeed.

And last but not least, warmest of thanks to everyone from the Metalworks family (staff, faculty and students) and within the community who came out to West 50 for the evening. We are touched by the generosity and the donations are so very much appreciated.

About the Fort York Food Bank

FYFB is a multi-service agency focused on reconnecting people with our community. We do this by working with partners who share our vision to: feed the hungry by providing the basic nutritional requirements to individuals and families in need; and, help people get on track by providing counselling, training and advocacy to help people find jobs, safe housing and appropriate social/community programs.

FYFB was founded in February 1998 as an independent agency of the Daily Bread Food Bank Foundation of Toronto. FYFB is a registered charitable organization -- number 867147464 RR0001. FYFB is governed and managed by a voluntary Board of Directors who are elected by our membership at our AGM.

FYFB originally focused on providing emergency food supplies, but to meet the economic and social needs of the most vulnerable people within our community and resolve our clients' underlying issues, FYFB's programming has grown to an integrated set of services to prevent homelessness, eliminate hunger and provide a safe environment for connecting with our community.
