Food Bank recognizes and thanks supporters.

The Fort York Food Bank (FYFB), an independent agency of Daily Bread Food Bank, held its annual Holiday Open House on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at its 797 Dundas Street West location.

This year's Decade One Holiday Open House was a special evening for clients and board members to thank and recognize the dedication and support of the many volunteers and donors who are at the heart of making FYFB a caring place in our community. Once again guests were delighted to dine on a traditional Indian buffet prepared by kitchen volunteer Farida Majoo.

"We open our doors once a year to formally welcome and thank the many volunteers and supporters who are at the heart of FYFB's programs," said Ravi Sreedharan, FYFB's president. "We are grateful for the generous contributions and commitment of so many and this is a special time to say thank you to those friends who are truly making a difference in our community."

About the Fort York Food Bank

FYFB is a multi-service agency focused on reconnecting people with our community. We do this by working with partners who share our vision to: feed the hungry by providing the basic nutritional requirements to individuals and families in need; and, help people get on track by providing counselling, training and advocacy to help people find jobs, safe housing and appropriate social/community programs.

FYFB was founded in February 1998 as an independent agency of the Daily Bread Food Bank Foundation of Toronto. FYFB is a registered charitable organization -- number 867147464 RR0001. FYFB is governed and managed by a voluntary Board of Directors who are elected by our membership at our AGM.

FYFB originally focused on providing emergency food supplies, but to meet the economic and social needs of the most vulnerable people within our community and resolve our clients' underlying issues, FYFB's programming has grown to an integrated set of services to prevent homelessness, eliminate hunger and provide a safe environment for connecting with our community.
